Hello World!
That’s the default statement provided by wordpress.com to showcase how to “blog”. I loved the way it sounded, so I chose to keep it. In a crazy, personal, spiritual kind of way, it’s as if the world ( or should I say “the universe”) has been waiting for me to “show up” and I’ve finally arrived at my destination. This blog is part of a new identity, or re-invention of sorts. Not only of my salon, but also of myself. On November 10th, 2008, I’m celebrating 10 years as a salon owner and in the past few years I’ve learned some amazing things. This blog is my way of sharing them with you, the world.
My passion is wellness and I’ve always tried to be proactive with my health. My husband’s second cancer diagnosis catapulted me into some unnerving discoveries that have since changed my life and changed the way I conduct my business. It’s as if I’ve jumped off a cliff and, now, there is no turning back. I’m grateful for what I’ve learned about the beauty industry and my goal is to help change it for the better – for ourselves, our loved ones and the environment.
What I’ve Learned (and what I haven’t)
I’ve learned that most companies that manufacture personal care products are most likely the same ones that test for its safety. I’ve learned that we’ve been using these personal care products for most, or all of our lives and believed them to be safe because we trusted the companies. I’ve learned that the truth is being hidden behind clever marketing techniques and deceitful labeling. I’ve learned that many of the ingredients in our skin, hair, make-up, and body products contain petroleum by products, plastics and carcinogens and these ingredients can cause cancer, infertility, hormone imbalances, other abnormalities and diseases. I’ve learned that I no longer will sit back and let this industry poison my body or my environment.
I’ve also learned that I’m still learning and hope you will help me continue to learn with your feedback and input. This is a neverending story with many layers. Just when I thought I’ve figured it all out, I peel off another layer and have another eye-opening, amazing discovery.
About Me?
Or should I say, “About Us”, because this is about all of us and the changes we’re going to make together. I hope you return often and join me in this journey. And please, please, please pass on your increasing wisdom to your kids and grandkids!
So, again, “Hello world!” I look forward to learning, sharing, growing and changing with you.

Hey Lorri,Just wanted to let you know that I think this is such a great thing you’ve got going. You’ve done such great things with your business and you have a lot to be proud of. I love the whole “going green” thing, also. We have to be very careful with what we are putting into and on our bodies. It’s comforting to know that we can go to your salon/boutique and get some of the best products. The best of everything to you and yours!! See you soon. Lou

Lorri – My intern just emailed your site to me. I’m so heartened to hear of your journey to green living – and green business. You are truly one of the tribe of eco-heartened folks who is leading us to a more sustainable world.
As a green career coach, I applaud you as a model for all my clients who dare to dream that they can create a green career – or business of their own – that serves to bring absolute and positive change to our ailing planet and economy.
Best to you,

I recently discovered your salon when I was shopping next door. I noticed all the green and organic products in the window and was pleasantly surprised. Since my cancer diagnosis in 2005, I’m very aware of the chemicals used in cosmetic and hair products. I applaud you for providing your customers with safer choices—and for all that you’re doing to educate people.
By the way, I just bought a Green Body Green Planet-Energy shampoo. I love the smell and it makes my hair silky soft.
Thank you Rose for the kind words. It’s not an easy thing to challenge the status quo, but we’re trying. I am glad you like the Greenbody shampoo as I am quite proud of it! My mission is to prove that healthy salon products can be created, giving you the desired results you want, without the chemicals and synthetics. It is time for a change.
I wish you well in your journey and hope to meet you next time your in the salon.
